TUI Cruises Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on TUI Cruises cruise ships?

German speakers, mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The ships attract families and more mature cruisers, but overall pulls in an older market than that drawn to rival AIDA.

Do I have to dress up on a TUI Cruises cruise?

No. The dress code is smart-casual throughout. There are no formal nights and the only requirement is no shorts or swimwear in the restaurants.

Is everything free on TUI Cruises cruises?

Almost. All the TUI Mein Schiff ships are all-inclusive, so there's no bar bill unless you opt for premium drinks. Water stations are available for filling up bottles, and cabins come with espresso machines. Gratuities are included, too.

You will, however, pay extra for specialty dining and for some premium dishes at the buffet.

What are TUI Cruises’s most popular activities?

The emphasis onboard TUI cruises is on health and fitness, and passengers prefer active excursions, including anything from cycling to e-scooters, scuba diving and golf. Typical fitness facilities include jogging tracks, outdoor gym equipment, a sports court and a large pool deck, and all are well used. At night, the bars, restaurants and theater shows are all popular.

Why go with TUI Cruises?

  • All-inclusive cruising, with drinks, tips and many activities covered
  • Emphasis on wellness, right down to group running excursions in port
  • Caters to German-speaking passengers

Best for: German speakers looking for all-inclusive, informal cruising

Not for: Non-German speakers and anybody strongly opposed to smoking

Mein Schiff 6 - Caribbean and Central America

which offered certain privileges like free pressing and laundry service, early booking of shore excursions - to name just a few.But the best part of this package was that we could have breakfast in the Große Freiheit - away from the crowds, in a beautiful setting and with the best service.Read More

Carefree Cruising to Canary Islands and Madeira

We didn't mind, as we were at a different port every day apart from one day at sea, otherwise the lack of good entertainment might have bothered us more.To sum up the cruise in one word: carefree.Read More

The German sure know how to cruise and how to get their money's worth.

It compares well to a Solstice-class from Celebrity and the service was a hundred times better.well, Mein Schiff 3 is the first that was built for TUI (it came after the ships they had bought from Celebrity - which are now at Marella).Read More

Really unfriendly and boring

No problem about being a German ship at all, it's the second time we take it, the first one was a pretty cool experience, not amazing but it was pretty ok, now the food is terrible, the international crew seems unhappy but they are really helpful, when you need something from the check in or you have to necessarily go to some of the European stuff, you're automatically lost, we had a loot of Problems, no further explanation, one personal asking the other till a row of 4 people, long waiting, really bad food, really don't know what happened in this new concept of TUI; but its really terrible. The cleaning of the room was nice and the international crew seems pretty happy to be around kids, we can't say the same about the other passengers, if you are traveling with family feel free to avoid this cruise, hopefully you recover your old good fame TUI!Read More
