Lotus Cruises Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on Lotus cruise ships?

The majority of Lotus Cruises passengers hail from the United States and the United Kingdom, with a number of Canadians, Australians and Europeans thrown in for good measure. It is an international crowd of experienced travelers who have all come to see the Mekong.

Do I have to dress up on a Lotus cruise?

Comfortable dress is the order of the day aboard Lotus Cruises, both onboard and ashore. A pair of comfortable walking shoes are essential for shore excursions, along with sun hats, sunglasses and a light jacket for cooler evenings.

Smart-casual dress is recommended for dinner; shorts are not allowed.

Is everything free on Lotus cruises?

Basically. The line throws in everything from complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner; a Champagne welcome reception; coffees and teas available around-the-clock in the salon; complimentary sundowner cocktails, draft beer and spirits; complimentary water on excursions; and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access (satellite permitting). Crew gratuities are also included in the fare.

Things like gift shop purchases, spa treatments, visas and international flights are not included -- though port charges are.

What are Lotus’s most popular activities?

Culturally-relevant entertainment is part and parcel of every Lotus Cruises journey. Cruisers can participate in a wide variety of activities, from traditional cooking demonstrations to exotic fruit tasting, musical quizzes, an Aspara children's dance performance, a demonstration of traditional Cambodian apparel by the ship's crew and other unique events.

Lotus Cruises also offers numerous cultural lectures led by expert guides that offer insight into the Cambodian and Vietnamese history and way of life.

Why go with Lotus?

  • A unique and luxurious experience along Southeast Asia's Mekong River
  • Stunning ships with plenty of French Colonial accents and motifs
  • Creative itineraries that highlight the most of this interesting region

Best for: Adventurous solos and couples looking for an authentic, luxurious river cruise experience along the Mekong with plenty of international flair.

Not for: Those wanting a river cruise catering solely to American wants and tastes.

Clean, but too many guests sick, and misconfigured WiFi.

So the standard answer of 'bad signal' is just an excuse - and wrong. The symptoms were that if you sat outside near the WiFi access point that was near the purser's office - you got a strong, steady WiFi signal and a good Internet connection.Read More
