About Ambassador Cruise Line

Ambassador Cruise Line launched in April 2022, the first new British cruise line in the U.K. in 12 years, with just one ship, the 1,400-passenger Ambience.

The 21-year-old vessel, which started life as Regal Princess, offers affordable no-fly cruises for the over-50s, operating from Tilbury, Essex.

A second ship, Ambition, joined the fleet in May 2023, and carries 1,200 guests in 714 cabins and 10 guest decks. Operating itineraries from Tilbury, as well as six additional UK regional departure ports including Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol and Falmouth.

The 1,400-passenger Ambience was upgraded and refurbished and fitted with emission-reducing technologies that bring the ship up to the highest emissions standard in the world, according to the line. Ambience's godmother is British Olympian Sally Gunnell OBE.

In terms of onboard amenities, Ambience and Ambition both have a range of restaurants including speciality dining options, cafés, lounges, a swimming pool, the Green Sea Spa, evening entertainment and fitness facilities complemented by enrichment and lifestyle programmes.

Leisure facilities onboard Ambition include six bars and lounges -- the Cavern, Clifton Lounge, Purple Turtle Wine Bar and the Consulate, Angel and Pendennis bars.

There are two main dining rooms, Buckingham restaurant and Holyrood; as well as Borough Market for more casual dining. there are also three specialty dining options -- Saffron, Lupino’s and Olympic Taverna.

Ambassador’s ships visit a variety of breathtaking destinations including the Baltics, Norwegian Fjords, Greenland, the Arctic, and Iceland, whilst for the winter months a range of expedition style voyages sail to the Canaries, Cuba, the Caribbean, Cape Verde and Scandinavia.

Ireland Discovery delights

The live music in the bars was also good, though we didn’t venture to the Cavern so cannot speak for that.In the Palladium theatre, there are fixed comfortable seats, but there are uncomfortable swivel seats in front of those, so if you are not especially tall, you are likely to have your view blocked.Read More

The cruise ship - a couple of adverse comments, on Ambition unless you are in one of the suites there is no fridge, an annoyance for some and a real problem for people with certain medication. The exceptions are no observance bar and some lifts don’t go to all floors.Read More

My First Cruise with Ambassador

Even so you can imagine this somewhat spoilt an otherwise good cruise having to keep leaping up and shutting the door at all hours. His key card didn't work initially so we had to go back down to Guest Services to get another one.Read More
