Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

We love Barcelona, but the ship's excursion to the Montserrat Monastery with airport drop-off was terrible. We left the port about 50 minutes late due to a couple not being able to find their luggage, making us miss our timed-ticket entry window. The guide walked extremely fast, leaving the slower walkers far behind. Then he was soft-spoken, so if you were over 6 feet away from him or behind him ...

We stayed in Barcelona for couple of days after we left the cruise before flying back to the UK. We did the hop on hop off bus which is very interesting and filled the whole day. Enjoyed walking along the beach and many cafés around. Plenty to see and do. ...

Nice ship with good lay-out

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Magnifica

This was my 5th (fifth) time in Barcelona. And my partner his second time. So we didn't explore the city and went straight to what we wanted to see: Park Guëll. My second time with a cruise there. Look out for scam taxi's. If they tell you to have a fixed price... don't do it. We did, but the meter told us that we could have paid halve the price. On the way back we took a Uber. So much better! So ...

Barcelona is a good choice to begin your journey. We arrived a couple of days before the journey to take in the main sights in the city and also stayed a couple of days after the journey to catch the sights we did not get to in the front end. Barcelona has a lot to offer, so whether you spend a day or several days, you will not be disappointed. ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Oosterdam

Retired in PNW
First Time Cruiser • Age 66s

Barcelona is a big, busy city and our ship docked away from town. I had scheduled a trip to La Sagrada Familia cathedral through my ship 6 months before my trip but it was cancelled anyway. No reason given, VERY disappointing. Instead I took a walking tour of Gaudi and other architectural highlights with a guide and 2 other travelers and enjoyed every minute. The area we toured was beautiful and ...

MSC Competes on price. You get what you pay for

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Grandiosa

Barcelona is such a cool city! With proper planning you can do the highlights of Barcelona in the amount of time you are allowed as a port of call, but Barcelona deserves a deeper dive to really enjoy it! Definitely recommend Sagrada Familia, but get appointment time tickets or else you will not get in. Ditto Parc Guell. I would highly recommend the hop-on-hop-off bus but note that you will ...
